Citrix Embeds XenServer Onto HP Servers

Citrix has announced they have collaborated with HP to provide a bare-metal version of Citrix XenServer that can be bought as a factory option with selected HP Proliant servers. This solution is referred to as Citrix XenServer HP Select Edition. As an added Bonus, HP made an official slip of the tongue that Microsoft is developing a embedded Hypervisor (based on Hyper-V) as well!

Yes Powershell is all over the place. Even VMware, that will probably not make it to the Microsoft Thanksgiving dinner this year, has gotten on the Powershell train (do they have any choice) and have delivered a beta of their Powershell tool kit for Vi 3.5

Depending on the way you deploy your virtual desktops in VDI environments, you still need to have some kind of updating / patch strategy. Whether it be patching "the golden image" or "subscribed desktops" there's still and Windows OS to maintain. Virtual machines that are offline or suspended usually pose a challenge.

I feel that this rumor might have been slightly misinterpreted by the community but this could have a huge effect.
 
Microsoft Acquires Kidaro: Enters Offline VDI Market

Yesterday I received an email from a Microsoft press person. I've never had Microsoft contact me directly to inform me of an acquisition they had made but it was worth it: Microsoft has announced that they will acquire Kidaro, one of the pioneers of offline virtual desktop solutions.
