Remember that Microsoft said they were going to manage Citrix with SCVMM? Well, the first incarnation of this promise is out there: Citrix has just announced the public availability of the Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) 2007 for XenDesktop Tech Preview.

Earlier I mentioned that a guy named Gareth James had created a demo environment of XenDesktop 2.0 and made it avaialable via the Internet. Now he has also added VDM2 to the demo pool. Try it out for yourself!

This is the best document I've read in 2008! It's a VMware whitepaper that provides you with best practises for VDI environments. I am impressed with this document because it is not full of vendor pitch but really shows to have come from the field in that it for example talks about how to deal with typical VDI "challenges".

Citrix AIE, Application Isolation Environments, was Citrix' first attempt at "application virtualization". It wasn't extreme popular since it was like a 0.9 version. With the coming of Citrix Application Virtualization, Application Isolation Environments have been superseded and will disappear from Presentation Server XenApp Server all together. However, Joseph Nord knows of a way to bring is back. Kind of.
