Today, Quest Software and Parallels officially announced that they have entered an exclusive partner agreement facilitating a combined offering consisting of Quest Software Provision Networks division Virtual Access Suite and Parallels Virtuozzo Containers.

Terminal Server Ping Tool

Just pinging a Terminal Server to see whether or not it's online is not always enough. Besides, the Terminal Server could be perfectly responsive to pings but not to actual Terminal Server sessions.  This is why several products do a ping inside the RDP protocol to check for the status of the Terminal Service. Now there's a freebie tool for that as well.
 
Exit Microsoft Application Virtualization, Enter App-V

In the good cheer of naming products alike, Microsoft has renamed their application virtualization for the second time in one year. Some time after Microsoft acquired Softricity and their flagship product Softgrid, they renamed it to Microsoft Application Virtualization. Today they announced that they renamed it again.

Remote Desktop Connection 6.1 Client Update

Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services introduced some neat enhancement. Unfortunately, to be able to use some of these new features you needed the 6.1 RDP Client. This client is a part of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Windows XP Service Pack 3. Time to take a closer look.
