Provision Networks Virtual Access Suite 5.10

At the Microsoft Management Summit in Las Vegas last week, Provision Networks showed the next version of its flagship product the Virtual Access Suite 5.10. With this release Provision Networks is the first hosted virtual desktop infrastructure for Microsoft Hyper-V.

As you may know Citrix has renamed Presentation Server to XenApp. So when I say that Citrix has a release preview available for "Presentation Server 5.0" I'm sure you all know what I mean. XenApp 5.0 is the succesor to Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 Feature Pack 1.

Recently I ran into an interesting whitepaper by VMware that compared the performance of the different storage protocols: Fibre Channel, iSCSI and NFS. It seems that the whitepaper doesn't do a good job in comparing all the relevant tasts of all these protocol but it is interesting nontheless.
 
SCVMM vNext / Carmine Beta Available Next Week

A rumor has emerged that Microsoft will be releasing a public beta of the much awaited next version of System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), codenamed vNext or "Carmine". This is the version of SCVMM that will support/manage Hyper-V as well as VMware Virtual Center and Xen in the future.
 
Desktone, Verizon Announce Desktop Virtualization As A Service

Who said VDI was fried air? Yesterday, Desktone, a VDI startup run by a bunch of ex Softricity guys and gals, announced that they are going to go to market with their VDI solution in an ASP or Software as a Service (SaaS) form. What's really interesting is that they teamed up with someone the size of Verizon.
