AppSense Demos Breakthrough Application Control Technology At iForum
Wednesday, 25 October 2006 by Michel Roth
AppSense today demonstrates new capabilities in the widely deployed AppSense Management Suite that enhances application delivery capabilities with Citrix Presentation Server™ and Citrix Access Gateway™ Advanced Edition. AppSense has integrated its Environment Manager software with Access Gateway Advanced Edition, embracing and extending the Citrix® SmartAccess capabilities by enabling a fine-tuned, tailored environment to be delivered to the end user, including locking down features within published applications.

Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition delivers tight control over access to applications and information via SmartAccess technology. When a remote user connects to the infrastructure, Access Gateway scans the host client and determines the level of access to be granted. When AppSense software is added, the following new capabilities are available:

• Increased application feature-level lockdown based on criteria defined in Access Gateway
• Enhanced control of network access for remote users
• Publishing the same application for everyone, but making it more secure by dynamically changing its interface if it is being accessed from an insecure location
• Prohibiting the changing of files when being accessed from an un-trusted location or a non-standard machine

AppSense Environment Manager and Access Gateway Advanced Edition are closely integrated for a robust, yet flexible, working environment. Since AppSense software is easy to configure, creating customized rules for granular and tailored application access that suits security and access policies is simplified, reducing setup and maintenance costs.

In addition, the visibility gained through AppSense monitoring of application-level activity through Access Gateway enables the continuous improvement and fine-tuning of corporate access policies.
