Jeff Muir has pointed out that Citrix has just released a public Beta of their free GotoAssist Product: GotoAssist Express. GotoAssist Express is a product of the Citrix Online division that isn't in the XenDesktop / XenApp space.
I do however find this announcement kind of interesting because it is a direct move against another party who has been offering free "remote access / remote support" for some time now: LogMeIn.com I actually use LogMeIn.com quite often and as a SBC fan, I am sometimes amazed by how mature their solution is in providing the optimal user experience depending on your connections. You can even scale down to black and white if you just need to get a job done!
Anyway, so Citrix released the public beta of the GotoAssist Express product. What's in it? Jeff knows :
- One-way Screen Sharing >> You can see your client’s PC or Mac in real time.
- Shared Keyboard and Mouse Control >> Remote control just like you were sitting at your client’s computer.
- Multiple Simultaneous Sessions >> Great for multi-tasking!
- Remote Diagnostics >> Saves time with instant system info.
- File Transfer >> Send that patch right over.
- Chat >> Why tie up the phone when you can chat online?
- Unattended Support >> Work on client computers any time – after hours, on weekends, etc.
- Reboot/Reconnect, plus Reboot/Reconnect in safe mode >> No need to re-initiate a support session.
- Reports >> How many people did you help today?
- Drawing Tools >> Maybe you’re no Michelangelo, but you can easily circle something on your client’s screen.
- Ability to Support Both PC and Mac Users (limited) >> Because even Mac users need help sometimes!

As a Mac user in this Windows World, i find it refreshing that they have built a cross platform support product. I really like logmein for the mac, it get's the job done! Good job Citrix!
