Citrix has made another acquistion. This time around it's ThinGenius. ThinGenius is known for it's Load Testing software, TLoad. TLoad was first released in 2005 and is currently used by 20 customers. Citrix plans to fold Edinburgh, Scotland-based ThinGenius into its Management Systems Group, where the technology will complement its EdgeSight monitoring technology. From the press release: "Citrix today announced it has acquired privately held thinGenius, Ltd of Edinburgh, Scotland. The technology acquired in this acquisition will provide a leading load-testing solution for any application delivery infrastructure that utilizes the Citrix ICA protocol – most notably Citrix Presentation Server™ and Desktop Server environments. This acquisition extends the application performance visibility that Citrix EdgeSight currently offers and brings much needed functionality to the more than 180,000 companies utilizing Citrix application delivery solutions." "Originally developed in 2002 specifically to enhance Citrix Presentation Server environments, the product provides customers with a powerful, automated and intuitive load testing solution. These capabilities allow businesses to determine how their Presentation Server and Desktop Server configurations will cope with high levels of user load, helping them to identify and remove performance bottlenecks before putting systems into production. Via easy to create and manage scripts that are utilized in regression testing, companies are able to quickly and intelligently eliminate risks associated with system changes – ensuring users are not affected as software and hardware updates are implemented." It makes for an interesting acquisition because usually Load Test Applications were way too expensive except for the free LoadGen.
