Citrix on the move... NetScaler and Essentials
Friday, 19 August 2005 by Michel Roth
Recently Citrix announced three new products.

The Citrix NetScaler Application Accelerator is the ideal solution for enterprises seeking to maximize the performance of their Web applications and to provide clientless secure remote access to these applications.
The Citrix NetScaler Application Switch is a full-featured networking system that combines Layer 4-7 load balancing and content switching with a full complement of application acceleration and security features. An ideal replacement for aging load balancers and other traditional point solutions, the Application Switch reduces network complexity and overall operational costs.

Kewl stuff, but does it really contribute to Citrix' core business?

Citrix Access Essentials is on-premises software specially designed, packaged, and priced for organizations with up to 75 Windows users that provides secure remote access and enables simple centralized management of information resources.

A kind of Citrix Small Business Server, but a good step into SMB.
