Net6, which specializes in technology access security, has 27 employees and will add $5 million to $8 million to revenues next year, Citrix Chief Financial Officer David Henshall said. Revenues for Citrix totaled $589 million in 2003. Net6 will provide Citrix technology in secure sockets layer, or SSL, which transmits communications over the Internet in encrypted form. The idea of SSL is to ensure that information is sent unchanged to the intended recipient. Net6 also has technology that will help Citrix enter the burgeoning market for Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VOIP, which transmits voice communications over the Internet. Net6 programs are used by companies with VOIP phone systems. Read the whole story here or read the press release here on the Citrix website.
