Citrix To Release WANscaler Software Client |

Citrix today announced the availability of the WANscaler software client. It must have some time in development because the company who made the WANscaler technology, Orbital Data, used to have this software client some time ago. and Citrix has been busy. For example, they have added Access Gateway support. I guess this mean that the WANscaler Software client also doubles as an Access Gateway (VPN) Client. Makes sense and sounds good. In addition the new WANscaler Software Client of course also optimizes application traffic like HTTP,HTTPS,CIFS,FTP etc. just like a "real" WANscaler would do. The WANscaler Software Client is manageable just like other clients in that you can manage it centrally in terms of configuration, logs, reports and client updates.
Note that you do or course need a server with this client, which would be a "real" appliance WANscaler. The WANScaler client will be commercially available in June. Worldwide availability is expected in Q3. WANScaler Client suggested retail pricing varies, depending on the size of the deployment.
