Configuring Smart Card Authentication For Citrix Presentation Server
Tuesday, 21 March 2006 by Michel Roth
In this article on BrianMadden.com Greg Reese details the process he figured out to make this work with ActivCard Gold in a Citrix Presentation Server environment:

"As many Citrix admins are starting to learn, the United States Army has mandated smart card-based logins for all Army IT systems later this year, and for Navy and Air Force system soon after that. The US Department of Defense calls this a "CAC," for "Common Access Card."

While Citrix Presentation Server does officially support smart card logins, there is not much information available on how to configure this. The Army only supports two smart card options: ActivCard Gold 3.0 for CAC PKI and Netsign. This article is the result of what I've been through to get a CAC (ActivCard), the Tumbleweed Validator, the Web Interface, and passthough authentication working.

This information is summarized from the Citrix Web Interface Administrator’s Guide, the Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 Administrator’s Guide, the Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 Advanced Concepts Guide, and the ActivCard Gold 3.0 Deployment Guide."
