Desktop Out, ‘Thin Client’ In, Says Wyse Man

The world's computer market is embracing a paradigm shift of moving from desktops with high price tags to affordable, small terminals called ``thin clients'' that are linked to central servers.

Tarkan Maner, senior vice president at Wyse Technology, a leader in the world's server-centric thin computing market, Wednesday made the point at a press conference held at the Grand InterContinental Hotel in southern Seoul.

Tarkan: "Thin clients and thin computing are competitive both in management cost and security and these benefits will prompt movement from today's PC paradigm to the client paradigm. We believe people want easy-to-use, inexpensive, secure and simple-to-administer devices to connect to the Internet for business reasons as well as consumer reasons.
