eG Innovations Announces Monitoring Product for VMware
Tuesday, 11 September 2007 by Michel Roth
eG Innovations, known for their monitoring solution for Citrix environments, has expanded their product range to include a monitoring solution for VMware environments: The eG Monitor for VMware Infrastructures (eG VM Monitor). The eG VM Monitor provides real time “external” and “internal” performance views of what a VMware host sees about the guests and what the guests see internally.

It provides a comprehensive view of the VMware ESX Server, including performance of the VM kernel, console operating system and all of its individual guests. eG agents only need be installed on the ESX Servers – not on each guest. Using ESX Server APIs, the eG agents provide an “outside view” of a guest's performance. To complement the outside view, the eG agent obtains an “inside view” that details user activity (desktop/VDI), resource allocation and the application mix running inside the guest system. The eG VM Monitor also is compatible with VMware VMotion and Live Migration technology.

The eG Monitor is priced at $2,000 per ESX server based on a 25 node ESX server environment.
