Embotics Joins Citrix Global Alliance Partner Program
Monday, 19 November 2007 by Michel Roth
Today Embotics, a company that focuses on Virtual Machine lifecycle management, announced that it has joined the Global Citrix Alliance Partner Program as a Technology Partner. Embotics and Citrix are working together to make Embotics’ V-Commander, which controls and manages virtual machines, compatible with Citrix’s end-to-end virtualization solutions.

I think Embotics is a great addition to the Global Citrix Alliance Partner Program if you look at it from the VDI perspective. A lot of the technologies in the VDI concept have been available for quite some time (the virtual machines, the presentation protocols etcetera). However, one of the key components of a successful VDI is often forgotten. Virtual machines provisioning and decommissioning. I think the best term is indeed Virtual Machine lifecycle management. Virtual machines in a VDI environment for example should be available instantly to users without having hundreds of virtual desktops running needlessly. This is an technology area that is relatively new. Embotics’ V-Commander is a product that focuses on that particular area.

As per the official the press release: "Embotics’ V-Commander reduces the challenge of managing large pools of VMs by controlling VM sprawl and automating VM management tasks through a centralized and policy-based management system. With VM environments becoming more complex as enterprises expand their virtualization deployments, Embotics lets enterprises maintain control over their virtual server infrastructure without taking up valuable staff resources."
