EMEA Thin Client Shipments Grew 42% In 2005

According to a recent IDC study, EMEA thin client hardware shipments grew 42 per cent in 2005 compared with the previous year. The market grew 45 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2005 versus the same period in 2004. Thin client shipments passed the magic million-unit mark, with a total of 1,027,713 units shipped.

HP and Wyse tied for the top spot, with less than 1 per cent of share separating them. HP had 25.6 per cent of the market and Wyse 25.23 per cent.

Both mature and emerging markets showed strong growth, although there is considerable variation in growth by country. IDC forecasts that growth will continue as customers look at the future of their desktop infrastructure.
