ESX Server 3.0.2 Released

Yesterday, VMware released ESX Server version 3.0.2. Virtual Center was updated a little bit earlier to version 2.0.2. Together with the release of ESX Server 3.0.2, Vmware also released an update to VCB (Vmware Consolidated Backup) which bring VCB to version 1.0.3. which adds support for Windows Server 2003 SP2 as a VCB proxy and, even more importantly, introduces support for iSCSI Storage .

ESX Server version 3.0.2 mostly is a bug fix release but it does add some functionality, like more supported operating systems (Windows 2003 SP2) more supported management agents (Dell Open Manage 5.2, HP Insight Manager Agents 7.8) and more supported hardware (like the Dell Poweredge 2970).

When reading trough the release notes for ESX Server version 3.0.2 I came across "Wyse Multimedia Support". This sounds interesting and frankly, I had never heard about it before. As it turns out, Wyse Multimedia Support is about streaming media to a Wyse Thin Client from (also) Virtualized Citrix servers or a virtualized copy of Windows XP (VDI). This supposedly is the real deal enabling high quality video with sound running on a thin client. It will support codecs such as WMV, MPEG & MP3. Cool stuff. Anyone of you already working with this?
