Presenting users with only those resources that they absolutely need improves security (amongst other things). Windows Server 2003 SP1 has support for Access Based Directory Enumeration. In a nutshell, ABDE causes the server to examine Access rights to sub-directories on a share, only showing the user those directories to which they have Access. This new feature promises to be fierce competition for Scriptlogic, who have recently released their Cloak product.
"Cloak is server-based software that hides views of files and folders from users who do not have permission to access those resources. Today, users can see all shared folders when they are logged on to servers even though they have access rights to only a subset of those folders."
