IGEL Announces Updated Thin Client Models
Tuesday, 13 February 2007 by Michel Roth
IGEL Technology today announced the enhanced Premium and Winestra product range. Containing the latest VIA C7™ processor and CN700 chipset with VIA V4 bus technology, the new Premium generation provides an average 30% performance improvement and is the world’s most capable digital services thin client with a MSRP starting at €539/£329/$619 + tax.

The IGEL Premium series is designed for the most demanding environments requiring maximum performance, rich digital services, smartcard security and hardware expandability. The range is ideal for access to multiple services simultaneously, such as server-based Windows access, video streaming or native access to SAP.

Supporting Linux and Windows XPe operating systems, the IGEL Premium series includes a SIP VoIP client[1]to access corporate VoIP-based telephone networks, a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run Java applications locally, and a local native SAP client[2] eliminating the need for a PC or server-based environment to host the SAP GUI.

In addition, the IGEL Premium series includes an integrated smart card reader/writer designed for shared desktop environments, enabling greater security, whilst giving users the freedom to roam between terminals. Display capabilities have also been improved with resolution up to 1920 x 1440 (DVI: 1600 x 1200) and dual monitor capability as standard. All versions of the IGEL Premium series come bundled with IGEL Remote Manager Suite to manage all IGEL clients remotely, saving time and money.

In addition to the Premium range, IGEL today announced the upgraded IGEL Winestra series supporting Linux, Windows XPe and CE operating systems. Carrying identical features to the Premium but without the integrated smart card reader and reduced processing power, the Winestra is available at a competitive MSRP of €429/£279/$479 + tax.
