Management Consoles, Group Policies and Citrix
Monday, 03 December 2007 by Michel Roth
Nicholas Dille has written an article that echoes the sentiments of a lot of people that have worked with some of the more recent version of Presentation Server: why are there still two management consoles?

One would be tempted to that the two management console are the work of some diabolical guy over at Citrix whose sole purpose in life is to annoy the crap out of Citrix admins? Rest assured, this is not the case. In fact, Citrix has a pretty good reason for it.

At Briforum Europe I talked to some people from Citrix that mentioned that within Citrix there was a guy who was the manager of the management consoles. Confusing or what? Anyway, my point is that there was a lot to learned about the management consoles and how Citrix would deal with them in the future. Nicholas decided to write that down and share it with you in his article. It's a nice read and I encourage you to read it.

One of the key things to take out of it is that Citrix configuration settings (policies) will be integrating more into Group Policy in the (near) future. Check out these screenshots that were shown at a Citrix event for a teaser:

The phrase teaser is in order because the bulk of the work on the management consoles is slated for the Parra release. So yes, this means that Delaware will still have the two management consoles ...sigh...
