Microsoft Windows Update Services (WUS) Open Evaluation
Wednesday, 17 November 2004 by Michel Roth
Microsoft Windows Update Services, WUS for short, is the planned successor of Microsoft Software Update Services, SUS for short.

SUS is essentially a free Windows Server add-on that lets small and midsized businesses easily handle patch management for servers and clients. One of the drawbacks of SUS is that only Windows patch management is supported.

WUS deals with this issue by including support for patches for Microsoft Office, SQL Server, and Exchange Server.
Besides support for other Microsoft products, WUS has several other exciting new features.

Ps. I don't know who came up with the names for SUS and WUS but I think he/she's a couple of beers shy of a sixpack! ;-)
