Microsofts New Virtual Home
Thursday, 16 August 2007 by Michel Roth
Microsoft is not always first in detecting trends and acting on it. But when they do, they go all out. Microsoft has a new virtual home.

Recently, Microsoft launched a new website bring together all their virtualization products. Or at least what they call virtualization products. For example, Windows Storage Server is also in there as being Storage Virtualization. Terminal Services of course is Presentation Virtualization (why does that make me think of Presentation Server). Anyway, the site makes sure you get the point. Virtualization over a Microsoft is serious business. One particular page that details the potential advantages of virtualization is preceded by this introduction with a flair for the dramatic: "What is virtualization? Why is everyone talking about it? Why is it even bigger and more earth-shaking than people know?"

Like it or not, virtualization is going to be a part of your future and chances are Microsoft will be playing a big role in it. With all the marketing talk being thrown at you there is one diagram that details Microsofts view on their virtualization portofolio that is really good. Take a look:
