New Free Tool: OSD Editor

Don't you just hate it when that happens? You have been editing that rather lenghty OSD file for like an hour with your trusty notepad, only to find out that you broke the OSD file somewhere along the way. Somewhere in the file, there's a there's ; or a < or a ' that is missing or surplus or in the wrong place. It's a nightmare to find out where it all went wrong. If I would have pulled a hair out every time that happened to me, I'd be bold by now ;-) What's my point with all this? Well, you don't have to mess around with notepad anymore. There's a brand new tool in town: the OSD Editor.

My dear colleague Jan van der Elst has written this brilliant little tool called the OSD Editor. This is a GUI tool that allows you to open an existing OSD file and edit it. All the possible categories are read from the OSD file and displayed in the appropriate tab. You can insert and/or delete values from the OSD as you like. So you don't have to worry and opening and closing tags or anything like that any more. There are however some fields you can not edit with the OSD Editor. This is by design: these are fields that should never be edited like for example the GUID of the sequence. Additionally, the OSD Editor also educates you on the meaning of some of the XML tags that can be used in Softgrid OSD files. Check it out:

On the roadmap for future versions is the possibility to import registry files and scripts and embed them in the OSD file. The OSD Editor is tiny - 300 KB- but powerfull and -best of all- completely free!
