Non-Supported Citrix Tool To Support USB Storage In Citrix Environments
Thursday, 22 February 2007 by Michel Roth
Another way (in addition to the solution my colleague Dennis Damen devised) of supporting dynamic USB storage in Citrix environments has been suggested by a Citrite called Anil Roychoudhry. On his blog he writes that he wrote a utility some time ago that makes it easy to access "hot-swap" USB storage in your Citrix session. He has however not released the tool yet; he's waiting for us to tell him to do so. I suggest we ALL tell him ;-)

"One of the things that I find quite useful is to be able to dynamically plug my USB key into my laptop and then access it in my ICA session. Yes you heard (or rather read) me right. Alright I know we do not yet provide native support for this in our Win32 ICA client. Having said that writing a utiltiy with some useful functionality that satisfied my key requirement was possible and interestingly not exactly Brain Surgery."

"Now there is enough functionality in NTFS and the Win32 API support for PnP notifications that allowed me to write this utility. I guess there must be other people who could use it because I was recently made aware of an article about something simialr on Brian Madden’s site. I whipped up my utility some 4 months ago and I know atleast one person who finds it useful i.e. me."

Read the entire blog entry here (and encourage Anil to share his tool).
