Perfect Storm: Conditions Are Right For Dynamic Desktop

This somewhat coloured article from a Dutch Citrix mailing that goes into the Dynamic Desktop Initiative (DDI): "Chances are, you’ve heard a bit about Citrix’s Dynamic Desktop Initiative, unveiled at iForum 06. But what is it, when will it be a reality, and most important, what can it do for you?"

There’s a massive desktop refresh cycle ahead: it’s been estimated that a third of the world’s PCs will be upgraded after the introduction of Microsoft Vista. At the same time, budgets will continue to be under pressure. Caught between the realities of slow-growing IT budgets and fast-changing business needs, IT is stuck.

By dynamically delivering the desktop, IT organizations can perform upgrades for a fraction of that cost right from the data center, and users can experience many of the new features in the operating system sooner than with static deployments. In addition, the dynamic desktop gives businesses the agility to respond to and leverage the opportunities for growth that a dynamic world affords.
