Remote Desktop And Smart Card Authentication
Wednesday, 23 January 2008 by Michel Roth
Getting Smart Cards to work in SBC environments can be a bit of a pain, no matter if it's Citrix or just plain RDP. Alex Danilychev has written quite a lenthy article on how to get Smart Cards working in real life.

Alex covers the entire process :selecting the proper hardware, creating the certificates, configuring Windows Smart Card removal. In the article Alex explains on how to use Smart Card for RDP authentication in Windows XP, 2003, Vista and 2008. He seems to like it: "As a closing note I have to praise smart card redirection within RDP - cards are fully functional not only for authentication when accessed from within the remote session but for certificate enrollment as well."
