Sentillion Works With Parallels Workstation In vThere
Tuesday, 31 October 2006 by Michel Roth
Parallels and Sentillion vBusiness today announced they have entered into a strategic partnership designed to address the costs, complexities and performance of desktop virtualization technology and to radically improve the end user experience. As part of the agreement, Sentillion vBusiness, which leverages virtualization technology to support its server-less approach to remote access, will embed Parallels Workstation for Windows™ into its vThere™ offering. The companies are also committed to the co-development of future products and leveraging their respective sales channels and participation in cooperative marketing activities.

Remote workers, including teleworkers, branch office employees, contractors, business partners, or temporarily displaced employees, require access to corporate applications and corporate data in order to be productive. This presents serious technology and security challenges because the IT department has the added responsibility of deploying and managing remote desktops, while also trying to navigate the complex security challenges associated with remote access into the enterprise. Sentillion’s vThere solution is designed to help organizations overcome these challenges in a simple, cost-effective and secure manner.

vThere leverages virtualization technology to enable users to run a contained, controlled and fully functional software environment in a virtualized desktop on computers in remote venues such as a home or branch office. This approach is a powerful alternative to traditional remote access solutions. vThere consists of the vThere™ Image Creator, which is used by IT departments to create distributable vThere™ images; the vThere™ Player, used for playing the images on the end-user host computers; and www.vThere.net, a managed Web site for users to obtain and download their images securely.
