Tarantella Announces Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition Version 4.1

Tarantella introduced the latest version of its flagship secure remote access software, Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition 4.1. Shipping in the second quarter of 2005, Secure Global Desktop Enterprise Edition (EE) 4.1 includes the following enhancements:

• Seamless windows for Windows applications. Building on the existing support for seamless client-side integration of remote application windows for UNIX and Linux applications, EE 4.1 offers seamless windows mode for Windows applications. Seamless windows provide a more natural user experience when using server-based applications.

• Smart card support. Users can now utilize smart card devices on their client machines to authenticate to Windows Servers and to provide authentication for server-based applications such as Microsoft Outlook.

• Easier to use, more powerful user interface options. Enterprise Edition 4.1 utilizes multiple SSL processes to improve scalability, especially on multi-processor servers.

• Improved SSL performance. Enterprise Edition 4.1 utilizes multiple SSL processes to improve scalability, especially on multi-processor servers.

• Enhanced password handling. Support for expired password notifications from LDAP and ActiveDirectory servers allows for more robust password handling in large enterprise environments.
