The Real Value Of Citrix Access Gateway

There is something going on in the web space that might change the way we look at desktop computing: Browser based Desktops. This is primary driven by the next phase of rich web based applications using Web 2.0. So, what does this have to do with the Citrix Access Gateway?

Microsoft Windows Live and Google Desktop are key browser based solutions for serving rich web applications on your home PC, to you as a private person. An enterprise would probably think twice before rolling these kinds of “online desktops” to all users. This is where the Citrix Access Gateway fits in. First of all, the Citrix Access Gateway is so much more than a SSL VPN appliance. SSL VPN is just a technology that makes the communication secure and every player in the market can deliver this. What’s unique in the Citrix Access Gateway is the way of accessing information. Accessing information is a fundamental bone in Citrix’ strategy and has always been. Citrix Presentation Server has Build Bridge between paradigms of desktop applications for a decade. In the Norwegian market place I have lately positioned Citrix Access Gateway to build the bridge to the next phase of web based services and applications. You can look at the Citrix Access Gateway as a “Global Online Desktop” available everywhere, in a browser.
