VIA To Concentrate On Thin Client Market
Friday, 30 March 2007 by Michel Roth
VIA, on of the more popular (HP, Neoware, Wyse, VXL use them) x86 chipset producers for Thin Client devices, has announced they will be concentrating on the Thin Client market. Perhaps this will make Thin Client better affordable.

"The growing use of thin client terminals as an alternative to PCs in many enterprise applications has compelled VIA Technologies to focus on this fast growing segment. The Taiwanese company intends to go aggressive in the Thin Client market in India. The company plans to introduce new line of energy efficient VIA PC-1 motherboards through establishment of a nation wide distribution and service network.

VIA expects to reach 1.25 million Thin Client units by the end of 2010. The vendor also plans to focus on developing business in other emerging verticals such as set-top boxes, broadband access and digital entertainment devices, and medical diagnostic, PoS (Point of Sales), and video surveillance solutions."
