Windows Server Virtualization Webcast
Tuesday, 18 September 2007 by Michel Roth
With the buzz around Windows Server virtualization (WSv for short or codename "Viridian") getting stronger and stronger, Microsoft is starting to leak out more details of its hypervisor. Until recently there were very few people that had actually tested Viridian. However, with a release candidate of Viridian on the way for the main public Microsoft ha decided to show some Viridian skin.

To this end Keith Combs has a 10 minute webcast on his blog that shows Windows Server Virtualization. Keith shows what the interface looks like, how you can configure networking and the fact that you can create an online snapshot (something that Microsoft seem to very excited about). If there's one thing that becomes particularly clear about WSv is that it looks like Microsoft is almost deliberately choosing to ship very basic management tools with WSv making it very likely that you need to buy the (just RTMed) System Center Virtual Machine manager to do any kind of decent enterprise management. I really recommend you check out the webcast. It's sweet and short (enough).

Take a look at the webcast here.
