Windows XP Embedded Virtual Lab

Windows XP Embedded is a componentized version of Windows XP Professional SP2 that ships with 12,000 components (9,000 drivers and 3,000 operating system features) you have the flexibility to choose the component that are included in your operating system image, this means that you tailor the operating system size and functionality to meet your needs. You can use off the shelf hardware, drivers, and applications to rapidly build and ship embedded devices.

In this lab, you will cover:

• Snapshot target hardware using Target Analyzer
• Use Component Designer create a custom component based on the Target Analyzer output
• Use Component Designer to create a custom component based on a registry key
• Use Component Database Manager to import a custom component to the Windows XP Embedded component database
• Use Target Designer to create a custom Windows XP Embedded operating system
• Boot and run the Windows XP Embedded operating system image
