Windows Vista Beta 2 And Windows Server “Longhorn” Beta 2 Windows Vista Beta 2 and Windows Server “Longhorn” Beta 2 are available to developers and IT professionals with MSDN and TechNet Plus subscriptions. In the coming weeks, Microsoft will start the Windows Vista Customer Preview Program (CPP) for developers and IT professionals who are not a part of one of those programs to obtain Windows Vista Beta 2 and begin their own testing. There will be an announcement on this page with the CPP becomes available, or IT Pros can register at the link below to receive notification via e-mail, and support for the beta. Office 2007 Beta 2 Office 2007 Beta 2 is available to testers. eWeek also did a review. eWEEK Labs' evaluation of Microsoft's Office 2007 Beta 2 unearthed compelling features and tools, and reminded us why enterprises continue to rely on the productivity suite. Microsoft shows Windows Hypervisor During the Bill Gates keynote at WinHEC 2006 Microsoft demonstrated the new Windows Hypervisor (codename Viridian), definitively called Windows Server Virtualization. During the demo Microsoft: • migrated a Virtual Server 2005 virtual machine inside the Windows Server Virtualization • demonstrated a running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 guest OS • demonstrated a running 64bit Windows Server 2003 guest OS powered with 2 virtual CPUs • demonstrated how to add a virtual NIC and change memory assignment from 4GBs to 5GBs to a powered on virtual machine without downtime • demonstrated a running 64bit Windows Server codename Longhorn guest OS powered with 4 virtual CPUs Check back here for updates as WinHEC progresses.
