In Thincomputing.net Premo I will be taking a look at Web Interface For Resource Manager 2.2, a free cool tool by Jason Conger.
Web Interface for Resource Manager is a web application that contains
several SQL queries to display useful information contained in the RM
Summary Database in several kinds of diagrams. It actually allows you
to some useful information out of your Resource Manager Summary
Database.
The version I am taking a look at in this Premo is the upcoming 2.2 version of Web Interface For Resource Manager. The new stuff in there will probably comprise of:
• A configurable Active Directory group can be used to control who can see/access the configuration page.
• A French translation now exists.
• The connection string in the Web.Config file is now encrypted (so no password information is revealed).
• A few new things happen on the Clients report.
1) There is a computer icon on the Client report to show you which workstations have used the selected client.
2) When no client version exists in the Summary Database, a lookup is done based on the build to determine the client version.
3) When clicking on the person icon on the Client report, a Client Name
column has been added to show which workstation the user used for the
client in question.
In the Premo I made use of a sample database that Jason was kind enough to provide
me with. This is the reason that you might see some of data in the Premo
like "Application X" and Client IP 1.2.3.4. I really think this is an
invaluable tool that you should definitely take a look at. Best of all,
it's free!
This Premo is about 12 minutes long.
