Quest and Microsoft Customer Success Story: Large Scale (25,000+ users) Desktop Virtualization

This article features a video where a Quest vWorkspace and Microsoft virtualization customer explains how a combination of Quest vWorkspace and Microsoft’s virtualization technologies is providing staff and students with the flexibility to access their learning resources from within the university or anywhere in the world.

Earlier this week I told you that one of the questions I get asked most often is to explain our relationship with Microsoft. I think that the video in my previous blog post has made it clear to everyone (and if not, I encourage you to have a look at it– it’s as informative as it is cool).

Just talking about how the Microsoft and Quest vWorkspace technologies provide customers with the best desktop virtualization solution isn’t enough in our mind.Customers regularly ask us about public references where Quest and Microsoft deliver enterprise desktop virtualization and very rightly so!

So that’s why Iam happy to share this awesome video with you that features our customer Kingston University. They are creating a ‘university without walls’ for its 23,000 students and 2,000 full-time staff. The 10,000 licenses of Quest vWorkspace purchased by Kingston University is a key part of the solution stack chosen along with the Microsoft virtualization technologies that we integrate with, including Hyper-V, App-V, SCVMM and RemoteFX:

As you can see in this highly informative video, Dan Bolton, Technical Analyst at Kingston University, describes how a combination of Quest vWorkspace and Microsoft’s virtualization technologies is providing staff and students with the flexibility to access their learning resources from within the university or anywhere in the world. This is especially key for the University’s 1,500 distance learning students. This landmark project at one of the UK’s foremost universities delivers virtual desktops that are centrally provisioned, managed and deployed across the globe and is one of the largest planned deployments of Quest vWorkspace on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform globally to date.

So there you have it! A Quest and Microsoft public reference case, on Microsoft Hyper-V for more than 25,000 users!
